Doofus 3D
Q. What is Doofus 3D?
Doofus 3D is the project that I am working on currently. It is something of a Sonic style platformer in 3D. It's not an arcade game but the game flow is more like a 3D third person game, kinda like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider type. The game features no violence of any kind and has no mature or sexual content. (Sorry guys this is something of a casual family game.)

Q When will the game be released?
The first game is released. You can check out the game at it's website.

Q. What does "Project: Doofus 3D" mean?
Project: Doofus 3D actually will feature 2 games with very similar technology. The gameplay and engine for both games will remain similar. Initally only one game was planned, however we have now extended Doofus 3D to include 2 games.

Q. Will both games be released symultaneously?
No. No way. The first game will be released soon and the next game will be released in a couple of months time.

Q. What is the theme of the game/s? What is the gameplay like?
The theme of the game revolves around a cartoon look and feel. Doofus 3D is a casual game and thus has been tailored to an audience that is not too interested in violence or gore. The gameplay has been kept simple and varied. Not too difficult to pick up -- with challenges every now and then to keep a feeling of adventure going.

Q. What are the minimum hardware requirements for the game?
The game engine is designed to run on bare minimum 3D hardware, on cards that support OpenGL or DirectX 9.0. However this doesn't mean that you will be able to run the game with all its glory and with all effects turned on with bare minimum hardware. To see all the effects ON, the minimum you need is an NVIDIA FX 5200 card or and equivalent ATI card and a 2.33 Ghz CPU.

Q. What platforms will this game/s be released on?
The current release of the game will be for the PC only and on the Windows OS. Future plans include a release on other platforms and OSes.

Q. What was used to buid the game?
The game is built on top of my 3D engine code named The O2 Engine. There are many APIs and libraries used in the engine, most notably the engine can use either OpenGL or DirectX 9.0c APIs for rendering. So in short it means the game needs OpenGL or DirectX 9.0 compatible cards.

Q. What is the O2 Engine?
Every game is something of a simulation. A game engine is the software library/framework that provides the technology for this simulation to happen. The O2 Engine is a 3D game engine written by me and is a culmination of years of work which I began in late 2003. The engine itself is not specifically for this game. You could make a totally different game with it just as easily.
